Worthing Pier Dawn
60cm x 80cm, Oil on stretched canvas. 2019.
Worthing Pier looking east.
If you live in a seaside town in England with a pier, you often find its a central, well loved piece of the landscape. Just this way in Worthing down on the English Chanel. Hot chips at sunset or an ice-cream when the sun is out, fossicking under the old boards at low tide, fishermen when the water is in.
Beautiful light bouncing through the wave tops for about 30 minutes on a Saturday morning walk inspired this painting.
It’s all about the light!
In my oil painting of Worthing Pier at dawn, I tried to capture the essence of that Saturday morning moment, to bring the beauty of the scene to life on canvas.
The first rays of the sun just peeking over the horizon, casting a warm glow on the pier’s iron framework. The tranquil sea reflects the pink and orange hues of the sunrise, creating a stunning vista. I hope that it will inspire others to appreciate the wonders of the world around us.
We do love our Worthing (where we currently live). Read more here…
